ANALYSIS

An analysis was done on the shear stress caused by the strings along the neck of the guitar. Since the neck radius varies in size, the smallest radius was used. If the neck is able to withstand the shear stress at its smallest area, it will be able to withstand the stress throughout the entire length of the neck. The max shear stress of the strings was found to be over 10x less than the allowable shear stress of the neck material. The next analysis done was the Rule of Mixtures. This was done to predict the modulus of elasticity for the carbon fiber after the epoxy resin has hardened.
